We’ve welcomed the New Year in style, and now we’re welcoming the latest fashion trends for 2017. From feminine botanicals to bold, bare shoulders, these chic runway collections have given us a lot to look forward to.
1. Flying Colours
Khaki and Hazelnut offer an earthy, organic, versatile look this year. While clean, crisp shades of white continue to be a staple on the runways and the high street. Feeling more adventurous? Bold flashes of blue, yellow, pink and neon are all the rage, making 2017 a year to stand out.
2. Statement Shoulders
One trend that continues in popularity from 2016 is bold shoulders. The runway continues to showcase geometric, square, structured shoulders, offering a modern spin on shoulder pads. But if solid structure isn’t your cup of chai, bare shoulders and off the shoulder alternatives continue to be this year's most popular silhouette. There are so many ways to rock this trend from strapless dresses to off the shoulder tops to single-shoulder cut-out pieces.
3. Dare to Bare
Crop tops are no longer cropped enough! With a shout out to high-end athleisure, crop tops are going one step further this year. Midriffs are in, ladies, so why not enjoy these warm summer days by pairing a bralette or swimsuit top with your favourite maxi skirt or robe.
4. Top Two Prints
Stripes continue to be a fashion staple, whichever way we slice it. What’s not to love about stripes when they’re oh-so-wearable. Stripes of every variety cover the runways, from classic maritime navy and white to vibrant mixes of rainbow delights. Don’t be afraid to mix-and-match your stripes, different sizes and colours in the same outfit are perfectly acceptable.
The spring/summer catwalks also witnessed a stunning bouquet of floral and botanical prints, and there’s no sign of this trend slowing down in 2017. From summer party dresses to flowing blouses, there’s no reason not to add some feminine blooms to your everyday style.
5. We’re all tied up
A definite accent on the waistline hits the 2017 fashion look book. Tied up tops and cinched waistlines take centre stage this season. Get the look by knotting your favourite shirt or oversized t-shirt at the waist. Alternatively, pair a high-waisted skirt with a form-fitting top to really accentuate your waistline.
